Inspired by the major cycling races held in North East England, this print shows the steep climb up Saltburn Bank after the descent from Brotton – which is as close as we get to a ‘Col’ on the NE coast - a col in cycling refers to a mountain pass or the lowest point on a mountain ridge between two peaks.

It is an original reduction linocut print, using just one block of lino and a process of carving away the lino between each layer of colour to produce the final image. These linocut prints are handmade from start to finish - hand carved, inked and handprinted, and as such they will have small variations between prints - making each print into a unique artwork.
